mountain

There’s a road that I’m taking that no other can make
It leads through a mountain of dreams and mistakes
At times I seek solace and at times seek reprieve

These are moments in life’s window scenes
Guide my foot as I walk one step at a time
While this destiny road does unwind
Is that friend is that foe from a long time ago
With no recollection still on I go

Damn the keeper of the pathway where I wander alone
Wanting payment for my trespass and need
I will use his soft body as a scabbard for my blade
For this road is my dream and my path is free
Is that me in the reflection of the clear mountain stream
With a face and a body I don’t know
Close to death close to life with eyes open wide
The image it does make me cry

I see the bones that lie so white upon the mountain trail
Bleached by the sun before the body felt the joy of life
The peril of the hallucinogenic guide
That greedy lifeless sage
Who rob you with their prophesy
Confound you with absurdity
But still I did partake
My youth my need was my mistake
Not now
I climb this mountain trail with all my senses at avail
To the lover of life the direction shows through
Eros you await me when my senses are true
You’re unclouded by words of the sage and the prophet
Selling matinee tickets for their personal profit
Ar Thanatos I know you that intimate bond
The memories we shared when I was so young
It’s the passage of life that you must now wait
For I have a dream that you cannot partake
Is Apollo alive somewhere on the mountain
I must speak and have parlay for he is the fountain
Oh to hear the words sing and lift to the sky
The words of my thoughts will have wings and will fly
Window of love you awaken in me
My desire my need and my want
In a moment you’re gone and then so am I
Never saying hello or goodbye

As one foot goes forward and one foot goes back
Just the memories picked from the best that I have
Keep me walking and searching and somehow believing
On this mountain I’ll find myself true
