I was born and lived my early years in a town in the New South Wales, Riverina.
I still credit these years as some of my best memories: the freedom of a country town and wheat and cattle property gave me life.
My family moved to Sydney near the beach when I was nine. When I first saw the surfers at Bondi it reminded me of a rodeo, an Ocean Rodeo.
I found nothing worth learning at many of the city schools I attended. They agreed with me and my findings were reflected in my grades. Sport of any sort interested me, but the ocean with it’s swimming and surfing offered me the most.
My ability to learn and do anything put in front of me, placed me in jobs where I was able to use my natural ability and my intelligence that somehow was overlooked at school.
I have always loved to write, whether that was poetry, lyrics, or stories, and this writing was my outlet to try and understand and communicate my thoughts and ideas.
In a world where making a living was my primary concern, only now am I able to use my vast and collected material to share with anyone who wants to listen and read it.
Art is also something I love doing. My painting techniques are my creation. Paint, adhesive plaster and the like relate back to materials used in building.
I also write songs, but because I don’t know many of the chords I am playing I always remember where my fingers are placed to get the sound I want. Tuition in music helps some people, but I found it very restrictive. Education is something that is better left to me to work out than having someone try and explain it to me.
I love people and original ideas. I don’t follow trends. I am now writing many words and songs, and painting in the spaces of my life. I now have the time and this is truly what I want to do.
You can know me through my words and music.
My wish is to make connections with people.
John.
