Don’t save me a room at the Chelsea
If I book in I’ll never come out
I will live for a while
In the shadow of style
And in quiet desperation I’ll shout
As I grapple with tigers so real and so true
In a cage one on one and hidden from view
Though the thoughts of the past
Come quick and come fast
Enter now I will take you on too
A man fights alone
‘till his opponent is thrown
With no referee calling the time
He must draw from his body
The strength that he needs
And his soul must walk a straight line
So don’t save me a room at the Chelsea
My inferno has blazed red and blue
I wonder at times
If your tigers were mine
But your bottle just hid them from view
I seek solace from your poetry
And spirit from your ways
But my style is set in rhythm
From a kaleidoscope of days
That poured relentless into a cup
The one held in my hand
Now the time has come to make
My song, my words, my stand
Don’t save me a room at the Chelsea
For I found one and it’s just as true
It’s a street that runs through this city
And a smile from someone I knew
There still is a tiger that needs to be slain
In respite there are words that I need to say
Through the pages of life I must always remain
True to my spirit that still stays the same
So don’t save me a room at the Chelsea
My time for belonging is gone
The people that live in your hotel
Also live and survive in my song
